How to Balance All Your Hormones for Life: A Functional Approach

We are about the sum of our hormonal interactions.  Without hormones life would come to a halt. This talk will address all the major hormones and some of the minor hormones as well as updates on menopause and andropause from an endocrinology perspective plus a little philosophy on aging. We will address the 5 crucial lifestyle factors that contribute to a healthy hormonal system as well as how an imbalanced hormonal system sets you up for the chronic diseases of aging and degenerative disease. Hormones are always dynamically changing. What we hope to do is achieve relative balance between them like an orchestra that that stay in tune and play the music of life without painful discord. People have more control over this than they think.

Bowenwork is the topic for our Sept 14th meeing

On Tuesday, September 14, 2010, MHNA is pleased to welcome Dena Bowen, who will speak about and demonstrate Bowenwork. All holistic minded people are welcome to attend. Nurses will receive 2 Continuing Nursing Education Credits.

What is Bowenwork?

Bowenwork is a minimal touch type of therapy. A dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy, it was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. It utilizes small but measured inputs to the body stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly.

Bowenwork usually results in the relief of many specific injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic. Signals are delivered to the nervous system at specific locations (on muscles, tendons, ligaments, or nerves) and the body does the rest.

Please join us and experience this delightful modality. Your body will thank you!

Juggling Your Feminine Assets - May 11th

Tuesday May 11, 2010 @ 7 PM.

MHNA is very pleased to present:
Cathy Holland RN, BSN, IBCLC, LCCE and our very own treasurer.
She will be speaking about how to juggle our feminine assets to create breast health.

Those who know Cathy will realize this won't be your typical lecture. Be prepared to have a lot of fun as well as learning more about this timely topic. The program will cover as many solutions and nuggets of knowledge as our time will allow. Some of these nuggets will include:
  • Historical and emotional perspectives of breast health
  • Testing and breast health
  • What you eat matters
  • Lymph drainage therapy (bring a doll if you have one to practice this healing art).
Words from our presenter:
They say our names are not an accident. So "Chatty Cathy" is a perfect fit. I have always enjoyed learning and sharing everything I learned with anyone who will smile at me. Over my 46 years as a registered nurse, I have worked in all aspects of Women's Health. Currently Lamaze, HypnoBirthing and Lactation Consulting are my Women's Health focus.

About 15 years ago the holistic world and Energy Medicine also became a major focus. Using food to heal, CranioSacral Therapy, Lymph Drainage and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) are just a few of the modalities that I practice at every opportunity.
